When searching for a home, wouldn’t it be great if you could make some up-front decisions that would lead to ongoing savings once you move in?

Double glazing

Apartments with rainwater harvesting and reuse systems collect rainwater to be used throughout the development. Some uses include landscaping and toilets - so you're not flushing perfectly good drinking water down the drain. Not only is this more eco-conscious, but it also reduces your water bill.

Cross-ventilation

Where possible, architects can design apartments with multiple windows that create cross-ventilation through the living spaces, meaning they can be cooled naturally during summer without costing you a cent.

Green Star-rated construction

Above all else, check the proposed Green Star rating for the project. Any developer keen to create an energy-efficient project will mention their Green Star rating it in their marketing material.

There are construction methods that help apartment buildings operate with a minimum amount of energy usage, and help residents reduce their energy bills. A rating of 4 Stars or above is a must.
